A bunch of tourist leaflets for the Joanne wishart Gallery

Sharing My Artwork at the Northumberland Tourism Fair

Posted by Joanne Wishart on

Yesterday I had the incredible opportunity to exhibit my artwork at the Northumberland Tourism Fair this year! If you’ve been following my journey, you’ll know that Northumberland has always been a huge source of inspiration for me as it's where I grew up. Its rugged coastline, rolling hills, and those breathtaking sunsets have a way of weaving themselves into my work — and it was amazing to bring the essence of those landscapes to the fair.

Capturing the Heart of Northumberland

There’s something truly special about Northumberland — the kind of place that leaves a mark on your heart long after you’ve left. Whether it was a windswept walk along Bamburgh Beach or the cosy charm of a holiday cottage tucked away in a quiet village, those moments stayed with me. That’s exactly what I’ve tried to capture in my art — the feeling of coming home to Northumberland, even if you’re miles away.

My work has always been about preserving those memories of Northumberland. A painting of the sun setting over the Farne Islands, a sketch of a sleepy harbour at Craster, or a textured canvas of the Cheviot Hills — each piece held a story. And sharing those stories at the Northumberland Tourism Fair was such a rewarding experience.

Why the Northumberland Tourism Fair Mattered

The fair wasn’t just about showcasing my paintings — it was about building connections. It brought together Northumberland businesses, artists, and creators to celebrate this incredible part of the world. I loved meeting other local businesses, hearing their stories, and discovering the amazing work they’re doing to make Northumberland even more special.

If you’ve ever stayed in a holiday cottage in Northumberland and wished you could take a piece of that feeling home with you — well, that’s exactly what my art aimed to do. Hearing from people who said a painting of mine reminded them of their favourite walk or a special trip with family meant everything to me. Those kinds of connections made it all worthwhile.

Thank You for Stopping By!

If you came by my stand at the fair — thank you! It was wonderful to chat with so many of you about your own memories of Northumberland and to distribute lots of my art gallery leaflets to spread the word about my coastal art gallery. We appreciate every connection which helps put our small creative business on the map!

If you run a Northumberland business and would like to share my art gallery leaflets with your guests please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.
